Everton In Ambitious Move for Parker

20130107-174033.jpg

The latest County Road Whisper is that Everton could attempt to take Spurs midielder Scott Parker on loan.

Parker was forced to miss the start of the season after aggravating an Achilles injury while playing for England at the European Championship last summer and made his first start for Spurs since May in their FA Cup win over Coventry on Saturday.

However, with Andre Villas Boas having a number of central midfielders at his disposal, Parker could be allowed out on loan to regain his fitness and get regular game time.

Spurs have Sandro, Dembele, Livermore, Huddlestone and Carroll in the central midfield area whilst Clint Dempsey can also play in that role so Parker looks set for a fight to get his place back.

David Moyes could provide Parker with a temporary move and minutes on the pitch and the Scot is known to be an admirer of the 32 year old.

A move for Parker by Moyes could be seen as ambitious and it is unclear if Spurs would be prepared to offload one of their players to a Premier League rival, but with Lewis Holtby set to join Villas Boas at Spurs and the former Chelsea boss doing well with a young side, Parker’s future could be away White Hart Lane

Load of bollocks, cant see the point in this one. Why bring an injury prone midfielder the wrong side of 30 to play in Gibbos position. Gibbo is well better than him!!!

  2. lobscouse says:

After getting Pienaar back I thought we were done with Spurs.
If we can afford Scott Parker I think his competence will show with us as if he belongs!

  3. Joelyid says:

Would be a good signing no doubt, however there is no way he will go. Huddlestone and Livermore are way behind Parker in the pecking order, you can have them both if you like?

  4. Dan says:

Seriously. We’ve failed at least twice to get him and as if spurs would let him join a rival for 4th.

    Non story

  5. ben says:

really??!! As a spurs fan I and the majority of others consider everton as dangerous as arsenal this season. I don’t think we will help you out in any way :D unless you want to sell us a player on the cheap and buy him back for double the price 6 months later I don’t see Levy being interested.

  6. macspur says:

hahahahahahaha dont make me laugh parker is going nowhere and while gibson has a far better shot that is where it ends. parkers a far better player everton are maybe even a bigger threat than arsenal this season so cant see us lendin yous a hand.

  7. Gareth says:

Firstly, Andy Savage – I can only assume you don’t know who Scott Parker is? Cannot beleive you consider Darron Gibson anywhere close to the quality of Parker, let alone better! Parker’s presence, experience, work rate etc etc… would boost any of the top 5 teams in the EPL right now (ManU, ManC, Chelsea, THFC and Arsenal). To go to Everton would be a major signing for you guys!

On the subject of him going out on loan, AVB is trying to win the unbelievers over. To loan out Parker would completely undo all the hard work he, the players and the club have done so far this season. He is a part of AVB’s plans for the 2nd half of the season without doubt. If it weren’t for injury, he would have played regularily and we’d be talking about an article mooting the laon of Sandro Everton instead.

Huddlestone and Livermore will only be made available in the Jan transfer window.

  8. Rich says:

Really?…. No. Not a chance. No way will Spurs sell Parker to anybody right now. He is going to be a hugely important part of our run-in this season, especially if we continue to progress in the Europa and the FA Cup. With Dembele’s iffy hip and the general need for effective rotation (just see how Redknapp knackered the team in the second half of the previous 2 seasons) then Parker will be getting plenty of game time.

  9. Simon says:

Gibson better than Parker???? Don’t think so

  10. Markieboy says:

Why wud we loan a player if his quality to a rival in the race for top 4????????

  11. cape town spurs says:

There is only one scenario where we would sell Parker, and if we did it would not be to one of our closest rivals this season to potentially give them a boost. Sandro, Dembele, Parker, Siggurdson, Huddlestone, Dempsey and Livermore would be our 7 midfielders we need for a squad – maybe one too many. Of those Sandro, Parker, Huddlestone and Livermore are all defensive and in that pecking order. If Spurs do sign Holtby this window and maybe another like the persistent Moutinho/Willian rumours then I can see us selling Livermore and Huddlestone and loaning out Carroll. Dont be surprised if you see us sign Moussa Sissoko on a pre-contract agreement to replace Parker next season. Imagine a Spurs midfield of Sandro, Dembele, Holtby, Sissoko, Moutinho/Willian and Siggurdson. boom. not impossible.

    • KING says:

“cape town spurs” you’r a true Tottenham fan, I tottaly agree with you. But I would’ve like to see a Spurs midfield of SANDRO, DEMBELE, MVILA/SISSOKO, HOLTBY, TAARABT, and SIGURDSSON.

WE MUST GET “ADEL TAARABT” BACK, he is a fantastic player, watch him closely on our next EPL match. And it wouldn’t cost us too much money to buy him, as Tottenham receives 40% of Taarabt’s future transfer profit. And if we would offer 17millions for him, we would receive 7 of them back.

  12. PatNevin says:

There’s no way we’re going to give you ammo to shoot us with. The biggest compliment i can give Everton is, i want you to lose nowadays. I’ve always preferred Everton to Liverpool and hope you finish above them for the rest of time. You’re going to have to do it without Parker though. He’s in front of Livermore, Huddlestone and Carroll for pitch time and will rotate with Sandro once he’s back to full fitness. Perfect scenario? both our clubs knocking Arsenal and Chelsea out of the CL places. Good luck for the rest of the season.

  13. ThePill says:

Sounds like a good idea for Everton, not sure Lady Penelope will be happy thou?

  14. Dav says:

I doubt there is any truth in this at all. Don’t really see the point in it either. He has been a decent player but we have a more creative player in Ossie. Bit of a non-story.

  15. Gary Fox says:

Not a chance! Unless you want to give us baines or jelavic. We already screwed up over Pienaar because Old Twitchy couldn’t use him effectively and we aren’t going to do the same with Parker. He might be 32 but he is fit and fresh after his layoff so will be crucial to our campaign on 3 fronts. AVB knows to rotate his squad. Good luck to Everton this year though…..the one team in Liverpool with integrity and an honest manager and players. Finish 4th please…….so long as we finish 3rd or higher.

  16. Mark says:

is it even worth it? decent player an all but in a posistion on the pitch where solid players are ten a penny, would serve to bolster the squad, another player and all that but with us apparently looking to lower the overall age of the team this dont seem likely at all and thats before you get onto the subject of spurs not wanted to get rid of him.

silly season in full swing now

  17. graham lloyd says:

parker is over the hill his future is down the leagues we do not buy players over 30 doesnt make sense

  18. xavier says:

LOL, Parker aint going no where peeps. Forget about it. Btwn, who knows how I can get Jodie Foster email address? Anyone?? Thanks….
